Christmas Hope

Family 322 - Two Moms

Family 322

Angel and Colleen have leaned on each other their entire lives, but nothing tested their resilience like the months they spent homeless as single mothers fighting rising rents, unstable jobs, and impossible choices.

After exhausting the kindness of friends and relatives, they had no choice but to turn to a homeless shelter. In their hardest moment, they promised to lift each other up and build a stable life for their children.  They spent their days job hunting and their nights filling out housing applications, pushing through rejection after rejection. Their persistence finally paid off when both were approved for housing, side-by-side apartments that marked the beginning of a new chapter.  Hearing their children laugh in their own bedrooms again brought them to tears.

Today, Angel works as a home health aide, and Colleen is completing her early childhood education certification. Grateful for how far they’ve come, they now volunteer at the same shelter that once sheltered them, offering hope to families still searching for a place to call home.
