Christmas Hope

Family 326 - Daniel

Family 326

Daniel is a 42-year-old single father raising his two children and his niece after his sister passed away. After losing the job he had held for 15 years, he went home and put on a brave face for the kids, telling them he had “a great day,” even though the truth hurt worse than the firing itself. Within weeks, bills piled up, food ran low, and he skipped meals to make sure the children ate. One night, after the electricity went out, he sat in the dark feeling hollow as his niece asked if they were safe.

Amid all this, Daniel also lost his grandmother, the woman who raised him, and took his grandfather into his home so he wouldn’t be alone, leaving no time to grieve properly. Despite these overwhelming challenges, he took odd jobs wherever he could, and a construction supervisor eventually noticed his work ethic and offered him steady employment starting in the new year.

Through it all, Daniel says, “After everything – losing my job, losing my mom, holding my family together on fumes and fear – I am still standing. Tired, worn down, but still standing.” Daniel didn’t just lose his job; he lost stability, family, and security, yet he continued to push forward, showing remarkable strength, perseverance, and love.
